About Nova Scholar

We believe everyone deserves to feel confident about their finances, regardless of their starting point or income level.

Our Story

Nova Scholar was founded in 2014 by financial educator Helena Davies, who saw a growing gap between traditional financial advice and what everyday people actually needed. After years working in corporate finance, she noticed the same pattern: intelligent, capable people felt paralyzed when it came to their own money.

The problem wasn't a lack of information. If anything, there was too much—conflicting advice, complicated jargon, and one-size-fits-all solutions that rarely fit anyone's actual life. What people needed was clarity, practical guidance, and someone who could translate financial concepts into plain language.

Starting with small workshops in community centers, Helena developed an approach focused on understanding rather than memorization, on practical application rather than theory. As word spread, the workshops grew. Other financial professionals who shared this philosophy joined the team, and Nova Scholar evolved into what it is today: a practice dedicated to making financial literacy accessible, practical, and genuinely useful.

We've worked with over 1,500 individuals and small businesses, delivered hundreds of workshops, and helped countless people move from financial anxiety to financial confidence. But what matters most to us isn't the numbers—it's the moment when a client realizes they actually understand their situation and know what to do next.

Our Mission

To demystify financial management and empower people to make informed decisions about their money with confidence and clarity.

Our Vision

A world where financial stress doesn't hold people back from pursuing their goals, and where everyone has access to the education they need to build a secure future.

What Guides Our Work

Accessibility

Accessibility

Financial education shouldn't be reserved for the wealthy or financially savvy. We use clear language, avoid unnecessary jargon, and make sure our services are approachable regardless of your background or current financial situation.

Integrity

Integrity

We don't sell financial products or earn commissions from recommendations. Our only incentive is your success. This independence allows us to give honest, unbiased guidance that serves your interests alone.

Empowerment

Empowerment

Our goal isn't to create dependency—it's to build your capability. We want you to understand money well enough to make good decisions independently, long after you've stopped working with us.

Realism

Realism

We deal with real life, not idealized scenarios. Your financial plan needs to account for unexpected expenses, changing priorities, and the fact that you're human. Perfect adherence to a plan matters less than consistent progress.

Respect

Respect

Everyone's financial journey is valid, regardless of where they're starting from. We create a judgment-free environment where you can be honest about your situation and get the support you need without shame or criticism.

Our Approach to Financial Education

We've learned that lasting financial change doesn't come from following a rigid budget or memorizing investment formulas. It comes from understanding why you make the financial decisions you do, and building systems that align with your actual values and constraints.

Start Where You Are

There's no prerequisite knowledge required. We meet you at your current level of understanding and build from there, whether you're completely new to budgeting or looking to refine an existing strategy.

Focus on Understanding

We prioritize comprehension over rules. When you understand the underlying principles, you can adapt strategies to your changing circumstances rather than rigidly following outdated advice.

Build Gradually

Financial transformation doesn't happen overnight. We help you identify the most impactful changes you can make now, then build on that foundation over time.

Acknowledge the Emotional Side

Money is rarely just about numbers. It's tied to security, identity, relationships, and deeply held beliefs. We address the psychological aspects of financial decision-making, not just the mathematical ones.
